Project 16 – Food
Project 16 was quite fun to sketch as it was meant to be loose and in a more illustrative style. Gave a nice break from a more realistic style. What I’ve learned is not to sketch food on an empty stomach, as looking at pictures of food would make you super hungry. I have been craving pizza for a few days 🙂
I used Daler Rowney Aquafine travel watercolour set, which I really really really don’t like at all and can’t wait till I use them all up. For detailing and outlining, I used Uni-Ball Micro eye pen, which I like a lot and still think it is the best pen ever.
This week project consisted of few multiple videos:
Page 1 – Sushi and Pizza
All sketches started with a simple pencil sketch, then a little outline with pen followed, a splash of watercolours for the effect and retouched with another layer of ink for details.
I especially like a pizza sketch.
Page 2 – Cake and Coffee
These were more like bonus sketches. I opted for a chocolate croissant as I wanted to have it a little bit darker than a standard croissant.
I like how the cake turned out and if you look closely you will be able to find a little heart.
This week summary
- I liked this week’s project as it was done very quicklyÂ
- I still don’t like Aquafine watercolours, but I don’t like Aquafine gouche either
- pizza and the cake were fun and superfast to draw
- sketchbook paper is not good at all for watercolour application
